And they're awesome. You guys !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which I basically ignored, in favour of the Sony MDR-V6. The sound is clear and nicely balanced and I'm discovering a bunch of magic in familiar music that wasn't there before.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The downside? Despite being a circumaural design, they squeeze my ears a bit more than I would like, and it hurts. Maybe the band will lighten up with use, maybe not.

I'm sensitive to pressure on my ears and I might have to keep looking for a new set of cans... oh well, you win some, you lose some!

Damn when I clicked through I see I never responded. My recomendation of the Klipsch ones (which you would have ignored as you said lol) they are around the ear not ON the ear.

Sennheiser HD-280 Pro. I've had mine 4 years, and still going strong. Best 100 bucks I've ever spent.

I got the MDR-7506 , and after a little break-in they've been incredible. I found I needed to adjust them way past a few clicks (typically at "4" on the metal band) to get a really comfortable fit, but the top band also has more give than it used to.

If you haven't looked into them, the Beyerdynamic Ear Pad replacements might help. I bought mine right away but haven't needed them yet.

I'll take a look, I imagine they're thicker than the standard pads?

I've had some sony MDRv5000s for about 8 years now and they felt the same to me when I first tried them. I played around with the headband a little bit - gave it a flex or two back. I think the biggest advice I can give for fitment is to make sure the cups don't actually rest on your ears - they should be fully around your ears and resting on your head. If there's pressure on your ears themselves they're not adjusted correctly or your ears are too big for the ear cups.

They're a little more plush.

My ears fit inside the cups no problem, but they're big ears that do stick out quite a bit...

I love that when you hear new things in music because of good headphones or speakers. That happened when I got my shure headphones a few years ago.

I would probably have bought the Shure 440 phones that I tried, but the headband was awful. I have no hair, and the band had virtually no useful padding. Too bad, because the price was good and the sound, too.

I have the 440's! The only thing I don't like them is that since they are closed, after a long time wearing them, you get a bit of ear fatigue. I can see what you mean about the headband though. Not much there. Love the sound.
